DPWC donates over $6,000 for Cancer Research with Community Help
Dana Point Women's Club matched up to $3,000 in its Walk for Leann, yielding $6,200 for Susan G. Komen Metastatic Cancer Research.

Dana Point Women’s Club (DPWC) First Vice President Judy Amiano recently walked 60 miles over 3 days in honor of DPWC member “Leann” who is currently in treatment for metastatic breast cancer. The Susan G. Komen “More than Pink” walk was held November 1-3 in San Diego. Over 1,500 walkers shared stories and remembrances and supported those looking for strength. According to Judy, “the walk is a tribute to friends we have lost, those who still battle and those who have survived. It is incredibly inspirational and brings together people from all walks of life and experience around a common goal. I walk because it matters. The walk is physically challenging, but I always feel renewed by the generosity of the human spirit that surrounds the event. "
For DPWC, this year’s walk was personal. The Board had voted unanimously to support the“Walk for Leann” with a $3,000 matching grant. Members and the public did not disappoint, donating $3,250 to the cause, facilitating the non-profit's $6,250 grant to metastatic breast cancer in honor of their beloved member.

1st Vice President Judy Amiano conveyed the heartfelt sentiment of the walk: “I was so honored this year to walk in support of Leann, a friend and fellow Dana Point Women's Club member. She is fighting her battle right now, and with the love and financial support of friends, family and DPWC, each step of the walk supported both Leann’s journey and research for a metastatic breast cancer cure.”
