DPWC “Falls for Foster Kids” at November Meeting
Dana Point Women's Club dedicated its fun filled November Meeting to My Own - A Case for Kids, benefiting local foster kids.

Dana Point Women’s Club hosted a fun-filled “Fall for Foster Kids” meeting on Thursday evening, November 7th. After enjoying a glass of wine and delicious hors d’oeuvres from Kristi’s Catering, members got creative with a hands-on holiday craft, attractive fall serving platters created under the direction of instructor Marla South from Saddleback College’s Emeritus Program.

The featured speaker was Debby Trailkill, founder of My Own - A Case for Kids, a non-profit that works under Orange County Social Services to help provide some of Orange County's 3,400 foster kids with his or her own wheeled suitcase filled with essentials, fun stuff and a note of encouragement. Treasurer Donna Childress and First Vice President Judy Amiano presented a check for $1,200 to Ms. Thrailkill on behalf of the Women’s Club. In addition, members donated suitcases, clothing, stuffed animals, books, toiletries, bedding and other items representing in-kind donations valued at close to $3,000.
Debby Thrailkill expressed her gratitude, saying, “The Dana Point Women’s Club is a a fantastic group of women who believe in helping others. Their philanthropic efforts have significantly helped My Own- A Case for Kids in providing for more than 1,800 foster children in Orange County so far. Donations of clothing, duffle bags, pajamas, hygiene essentials, and hand made pillowcases and quilts have made their way to foster and at risk youth through Social Services. I am very thankful and humbled by the support and belief in what My Own is doing to held these children -- our neighbors in need.”
