DPWC Honors Military at November Luncheon
Dana Point Woman's Club hosted two excellent and engaging military speakers at its November 3rd luncheon meeting held at Community House.

Dana Point Woman’s Club (DPWC) members were honored to hear comments from two excellent military speakers at its November 3rd meeting held at Community House in Dana Point.
Senior Chief Intelligence Specialist, Michael J. Taub, eldest grandson of Past DPWC President Joan Marie Kerr, was accompanied by his wife Jessica, and brother Edward. The audience paid rapt attention as Naval Officer Taub alternated between interesting, often amusing tales and heart-stopping, sometimes, heart-wrenching moments experienced during his 16-year career in naval intelligence. Senior Chief Taub has done it all - including 3 deployments aboard a nuclear powered aircraft carrier, six deployments to Regional Task Forces conducting combat operations against Al Qaida and the Islamic State, plus invaluable work with Seal Team Five in the Arabian Peninsula, providing training and implementing intelligence strategies. Officer Taub has received numerous awards including the Meritorious Service Medal and nine awards for joint service achievements from both the Navy and Marine Corps. Senior Chief Taub currently serves at U. S. Third Fleet in Point Loma as Leading Chief Petty Officer, Maritime Intelligence Operations.

The second speaker was Terry Rifkin, President of the Dana Point 5th Marine Regiment Support Group. Ms. Rifkin is well known in the Dana Point community and to DPWC members for her accomplished leadership of this vital service organization. She made an engaging presentation on the many roles of the non-profit Group which supports not only marines, but their spouses and families. DPWC Co-President, Betty Hill presented a donation of $500 to the 5th Marines Group, in addition to an impressive pile of donated diapers and baby wipes - two of the most expensive items in the budgets of young marine families at Camp Pendleton.

Karin Marsh, DPWC Co-President, spoke for all members when she said “Both of these speakers were so impressive. We were honored to hear about the distinguished service of Senior Chief Intelligence Specialist, Michael Taub, and so pleased to be able, once again, to help Marine families through the Dana Point Fifth Marine Regiment Support Group."
Bob Zasa, President of Dana Point’s Sister Cities organization, was also present at the meeting along with his spouse Judy Amiano, a new DPWC member. Bob gave a brief presentation on Dana Point’s newest philanthropic group which is bringing art and cultural events to the city, some of them in conjunction with its equally beautiful sister city, Sorrento, Italy.
