Earth Day Celebration Planned In Laguna Niguel

Earth Day celebrations planned for April 21 in Laguna Niguel, at Crown Valley Park. Residents invited to pitch in and lend a hand & learn.

LAGUNA NIGUEL, CA — The Laguna Niguel botanical preserve is inviting all to pitch in, plant, weed and clean up in honor of Earth Day. A variety of activities will be available for residents who come to Crown Valley Park between 8:30 and 11:30 a.m. on Saturday morning, April 21.

The Laguna Niguel Parks and Recreation department spoke a little more about the event, suggesting that volunteers should dress to get dirty! and bring water, sunscreen and possibly a hat. Snacks and water will be on hand for the parched.

"This is the 25th year the city has done this event, volunteer connection day turned into Earth Day," about 180 to 200 are expected to attend the event, Gretchen Malcolm, Laguna Niguel Recreation Supervisor told Patch.

Last year, about 200 people came to lend a hand, and were able to return over the course of the year to see what they had planted bloom and thrive in the beloved gardens.

A team leader will lead them to plant, spread mulch, paint, as well as dig in the ground and make a big difference at the Botanical preserve.

This demonstration garden is divided into regions, where residents can come and learn about what will grow best in their respective yards.

"We appreciate all residents for joining in, and learning more about their environment," she said. Herbs and plants will be available for purchase, and more. For more information, visit: www.cityoflagunaniguel.org or call: 949-425-5100
