Elderly Man Drowns In South Orange County Hot Tub, Cops Say

DANA POINT, CA -An elderly man died Thursday at his home in Dana Point, Orange County Sheriff's Department officials said. The 98-year-old, whose name was not immediately released, apparently drowned in his hot tub, according to authorities.

The victim wasn't breathing when he was discovered in the water just after noon, OCSD spokeswoman Carrie Braun said.

Orange County Fire Authority firefighters responded to the Magellan Isle residence and tried to revive him, but he was pronounced dead at the scene just after 12:15 p.m., Braun said.

An autopsy is pending, but investigators suspect he drowned and did not consider the death suspicious, Braun said.
