LAGUNA NIGUEL, CA — A motorcyclist died following a collision with an SUV on Crown Valley and Moulton/Golden Lantern in Laguna Niguel, Wednesday morning. Roads were closed during the collision investigation, an Orange County Sheriff's Department spokesperson said.
A man driving a motorcycle collided with an SUV, at just after 9:45 a.m. Wednesday morning, though the exact circumstances of the crash were unclear. The motorcyclist died en route to the hospital, OCSD Carrie Braun told Patch. His identity was withheld pending notification of next of kin.
The SUV driver sustained "minor injuries" and was not suspected of being impaired by drugs or alcohol. As of this report, it was unclear if the motorcycle driver was impaired.

The OCSD major accident reconstruction team was conducting an investigation on whether "speed played a role in the incident," Braun said. During that time, Golden Lantern was closed both directions from Crown Valley Parkway to Paseo De Colinas.
It was anticipated the road would reopen sometime after 2 p.m., depending on the investigation, Braun said.
