Father Of Dana Wharf Don Hansen Dies At 87

The founder of Dana Wharf Sportfishing and Whale Watching died Jan. 5. Don Hansen leaves behind a legacy of protecting marine wildlife.

DANA POINT, CA — Founder of Dana Wharf Sportfishing and Whale Watching Don Hansen died Jan. 5 at 87 years old, the Dana Point Times reported earlier this month. Hansen is survived by his three sons, three daughters and 15 grandchildren.

Donna Kalez, Hansen's daughter and chief operating officer of Dana Wharf, posted about her father's passing on Facebook.

ā€œWords cannot express the sadness we feel, and we will miss him every single day,ā€ Kalez wrote in the post. ā€œWe are so thankful that we were able to celebrate Thanksgiving and Christmas this year with him. He made it to the New Year and celebrated by watching his Rams win.ā€
