Federal Building Evacuated In Laguna Niguel
A fire alarm forced the evacuation of the Chet Holifield Federal Building Wednesday afternoon.

LAGUNA NIGUEL, CA — An automatic fire alarm forced the evacuation of the Chet Holifield Federal Building at 24000 Avila Road Wednesday afternoon.
Dozens of workers poured out into the street as Orange County Fire Authority crews responded to the alarm just before 3 p.m. However, there doesn't appear to a significant threat, said OCFA Captain Larry Kurtz. The building was evacuated as a precaution as crews workedto clear the scene following the alarm, he said.
Because it houses the IRS, the building has been the target of numerous threats over the years, and employees are somewhat accustomed to precautions.
