Firefighters Battle Laguna Hills House Fire, Dog Dies In Blaze

A family dog was the only victim of a Laguna Hills house fire, Friday. Firefighters work to save property, belongings.

LAGUNA HILLS, CA — Smoke billowed from a home in Laguna Hills on Friday morning as Orange County Fire Authority raced to the scene. Though the family was not at home, their dog was found deceased, an OCFA spokesperson said.

At approximately 9:30 a.m. Friday, a bystander called 911, according to OCFA Capt. Tony Bommarito. Firefighters arrived at the home, located on the 27000 block of Woodbluff. As of 10 a.m., firefighters worked to save personal belongings, as well as douse the blaze.

The distraught owner, who returned to the residence at 10 a.m., was seen holding their pet. No one else was injured in battling the blaze.
