She finished 7th overall following day one, scoring 16.10 on vault and 15.200 on floor.

Last month, the Associated Press reported that the World vault champion would not compete in the finals of the U.S. gymnastics championships after hitting her head on the floor during training.

The report said she: "showed signs of a concussion and was taken to a hospital for further tests. However, she petitioned for a spot at the Olympic trials held June 28 through July 1 in San Jose.

"Maroney was doing a tumbling run during pre-meet training when she fell hard, landing flat on her back. The thud could be heard throughout the arena, and she lay there for several minutes before walking off the podium with Dr. Larry Nassar," the report said.

The doctor examined her on the sidelines before the two left the competition floor.

Her Facebook page on Sunday afternoon said that she was in Jose and "wearing the pink USA leotard! The one she won the 2011 World vault title."

Blythe Lawrence of Gymnastics Examiner.com also posted on Maroney's Facebook page: "Warmups are beginning in San Jose! Aly Raisman and McKayla Maroney are smiling and chatting, but the game faces are on."
