It's Official: Laguna Niguel Haggen to Become Smart & Final

A bankruptcy court has approved the sale of Laguna Niguel's Haggen store to Smart & Final.

Haggen has received bankruptcy court approval for the sale of supermarkets in Southern California, many of them to the Albertsons grocery and warehouse-style Smart & Final chains, it was announced today.

Albertsons will take over former Haggen stores in Tujunga, Saugus, El Cajon, La Mesa, Rancho Bernardo and San Diego’s Highland Village Place.

Smart & Final was approved to buy stores in Laguna Niguel, Diamond Bar, Burbank and San Diego’s University Avenue.

Tawa Inc. bought stores in Chula Vista and San Diego’s Balboa Avenue.
