Laguna Niguel Man Dies From Gunshot Wound Thursday
Police arrived in the area of Naranjas Drive after neighbors reported hearing a single gunshot.
LAGUNA NIGUEL, CA — An unidentified man was discovered dead inside a Laguna Niguel home Thursday, the Orange County Sheriff's Department reported Friday. Authorities responded to a 911 call of a single gunshot, heard near the 24000 block of Las Naranjas Drive, the OCSD said.
Based on a preliminary investigation, an OCSD spokesperson stated the fatal gunshot was self-inflicted.
"This was a tragic event and we would like to express our deepest condolences to the affected family members, friends and neighbors," the OCSD reported over Twitter, Friday morning.

On Thursday, nearby neighbors noticed the strong police presence in the area of Benecia Avenue and La Hermosa Avenue in Laguna Niguel.
Once deputies arrived, they found a neighbor outside of the home where the victim was found.

Officers learned that the victim had firearms registered in his name.
