Laguna Niguel Man Fatally Hit By SUV In Huntington Beach Monday

The 30-year-old pedestrian died at the scene, Huntington Beach police officers said in a statement.

HUNTINGTON BEACH, CA — A Laguna Niguel man was fatally hit by an SUV while on-foot in Huntington Beach early Monday morning, authorities said.

Officers responded to the crash that was reported on Beach Boulevard north of Slater Avenue at about 2:30 a.m., authorities said. Officers found the victim and reported him dead at the scene.

According to initial investigations, authorities said that a Jeep Compass was traveling northbound on Beach Boulevard when it struck a male pedestrian, who was in the northbound lanes of the street at the time of the crash.

Police said drugs or alcohol did not appear to be a cause of the crash.

The victim was identified as a 30-year-old man from Laguna Niguel, though his name was withheld pending notification of his relatives. The driver of the Jeep Compass, a 50-year-old Fountain Valley man, remained at the scene and cooperated with police.
