Laguna Niguel Selects New Mayor

LAGUNA NIGUEL, CA — At the Tuesday, November 19, 2019 City Council Meeting, the Laguna Niguel City Council selected Laurie Davies to serve as the City’s next Mayor and Fred Minagar as Mayor Pro Tem.

Mayor Davies was first elected to the City Council in 2012 and was re-elected to a second term in 2016.

“I am beyond grateful to serve our remarkable City of Laguna Niguel as Mayor in my final year on the City Council," Davies said. "I would like to extend sincere appreciation to my predecessor, outgoing Mayor, Council Member John Mark Jennings for his leadership and forward-thinking displayed over the last year. Serving our community is a truly great honor and I am ecstatic about the great possibilities this next year will bring by the entire City Council."

Mayor Pro Tem Minagar was first elected to the City Council in 2014 and was re-elected in 2018.

“I would like to thank my colleagues on the City Council for expressing their confidence in me to serve as our beautiful City’s next Mayor Pro Tem. I am honored to have the opportunity to serve
under the leadership of Mayor Laurie Davies,” said Mayor Pro Tem Minagar.

Outgoing Mayor John Mark Jennings honored the City Council and thanked his family through the presentation of a thoughtful gift.

“Serving as your Mayor this past year has been an incredibly moving and rewarding experience," Jennings said. "We
accomplished tremendous things in a short period of time including adopting Laguna Niguel’s first ever strategic plan, a campaign to drastically increase
enforcement and safety on our streets, and of course a huge year-long celebration for our 30th Anniversary. For all that, I want to say a sincere thank you to the City Council and members of the community for dedicating their time, effort, and expertise, as well as their engagement, cooperation, and insightful input. The future of Laguna Niguel is bright as we all work together for our collective tomorrows. Tomorrow! Together!"
