1 Dead In 5 Freeway Crash, SigAlert Shuts Down 5 Lanes In South OC
The crash was reported at 9:22 p.m. Monday night on the 5 Freeway and involved a motorcycle and a sedan.
SAN JUAN CAPISTRANO, CA — On person died Monday night after a motorcycle and a vehicle collided on the 5 Freeway traveling through San Juan Capistrano, the California Highway Patrol reported.
The crash was reported at 9:22 p.m. near Junipero Serra Road on the freeway traveling northbound, preliminary reports showed. According to the California Highway Patrol report log, a motorcyclist was lying in the road and several vehicles had stopped off the side of the freeway to help.
At 10:05 p.m., California Highway Patrol officers ruled the incident a fatality. The county coroner was called to the scene at 9:58 p.m.

The crash prompted authorities to issue a SigAlert and force hard closures to the number 2, 3, 4, 5 and 6 lanes on the freeway.
