Man Pleads Guilty To Hit-And-Run That Killed 61-Year-Old Woman In South OC

The crash happened near El Camino Real and Boca De La Playa in the City of San Clemente, police said.

SAN CLEMENTE, CA — A 43-year-old man pleaded guilty Wednesday to a hit-and-run crash on a motorcycle that killed a 61-year-old woman in San Clemente.

Adam Jerhemie Horner was riding a motorcycle that hit San Clemente resident Susan Fernandez at about 9:50 p.m. on April 14, 2021.

The crash happened near El Camino Real and Boca De La Playa, according to the Orange County Sheriff's Department.

Fernandez was pronounced dead at the scene, authorities said.

Witnesses gave deputies a description of the motorcyclist and Horner was arrested nearby about a half-hour after the collision, Braun said.

When sheriff's deputies questioned Horner he falsely claimed his motorcycle was stolen before the collision, according to testimony at his preliminary hearing.

Horner pleaded guilty to a felony count of hit-and-run with permanent and serious injury and misdemeanor counts of vehicular manslaughter and making a false police report. He also admitted an infraction for driving without a motorcycle license.

Horner was scheduled to be sentenced Sept. 10 in the Central Justice Center in Santa Ana.
