Man Stabbed In Violent South OC Strip Mall Carjacking Attempt

LAGUNA NIGUEL, CA — Authorities Thursday were searching for a man wanted for apparently stabbing a victim during an attempted carjacking in Laguna Niguel.

Deputies were dispatched just after 10 p.m. Wednesday to the Aliso Village Shopping Center at La Paz and Dorine roads, according to the Orange County Sheriff's Department.

The victim was taken to a local hospital and was expected to survive his injuries, authorities said.

The attacker ran away and deputies only have a vague description of the suspect, OCSD Sgt. Matt Timmins told City News Service. According to Timmins, the attacker ran off before he was able to take the vehicle.

ABC7 reported from the scene that the victim was an employee at a Whole Foods market in the center, and some nearby construction workers chased the attacker from the scene.
