This month aΒ Niguel Hills Middle School mother-daughter duo led a community effort to collect and donate 700 pieces of Rachel Ray dinnerware.
The dishes are being donated to military families and victims of domestic abuse.
Melissa Pearl and her daughter Natalie noticed Albertson's supermarket had a Rachel Ray dish promotion: for every $10 spent, shoppers received one yellow sticker. Twenty stickers wereΒ redeemable for a free dish.

Human OptionsΒ received 640 dishes to give to the next 40 women who complete the charity's domestic abuse program. Another 60 dishes will be given to military families throughΒ Military Outreach Ministry.
A similar effort led byΒ Ilana Rosenberg at Laguna Beachβs El Morro Elementary School yielded 220 dishes donatedΒ to Friendship Shelter.
