No Ifs, Ands Or Butts: Dana Point Remains Smoke Free
Dana Point remains 100% smoke-free, one year after passing the no smoking/vaping law. Have you seen an improvement since last year?

DANA POINT, CA — The Dana Point City Council reminded area residents and visitors that the city is 100% smoke-free. The city council initially passed the non-smoking ordinance by a narrow margin one year ago.
The non-smoking rules include "vaping" as well as traditional cigar or cigarette smoke, which are all banned in the city's public spaces.
The law prohibits smoking anywhere in public spaces within city limits, including public sidewalks, alleys and in parking lots, and especially on beaches.

The vote passed, 3-2, with both mayor Pro Tem Joe Muller and Mayor Rick Viczorek opposing the law. The no smoking ordinance, initially introduced by Councilwoman Debra Lewis in May of 2017, will be enforceable in February, according to the council.
"It's our role to protect the health and welfare of our residents," Lewis said.
