OC Football Coach Reunites With Man Who Saved His Life: Report
The high school football coach suffered a massive heart attack last month on a pickleball court when an off-duty firefighter intervened.
SAN CLEMENTE, CA — A high school football coach who suffered a major heart attack in December on a pickleball court in Orange County was reunited Monday with the man who saved his life, KTLA reported.
The incident happened on Dec. 19 when Rob Frith, a teacher and head football coach at San Juan Hills High School, suddenly collapsed on the court at Richard T. Steed Memorial Park in San Clemente.
Despite the grim circumstance, good fortune was on Frith's side — off-duty Orange County Fire Authority Firefighter John Rowlands happened to be playing at the same park, and he quickly sprang into action, the outlet reported.

"The situation deteriorated and Rob had stopped breathing and we couldn't feel a pulse," Rowlands told KTLA. "I started chest compressions and did my best to make sure that I did everything I was trained to do to give Rob the best chance to make it until advanced life support showed up."
