Ocean Institute to Host Parade of Lights Viewing Party

From the Ocean Institute: Celebrate the holidays with the Ocean Institute at the Annual Holiday Lights Viewing Party for the 42nd Annual Dana Point Harbor Boat Parade of Lights on Friday, Dec. 9, 6 – 9 p.m. This year’s Boat Parade of Lights theme is “Under the Sea” so there is no better place to view the parade than from the one-of-a-kind setting that only the Ocean Institute can provide!

Drink hot cocoa, enjoy homemade cobblers, take pictures with Santa and live Mermaids, and build your own ornament to celebrate the “Under the Sea” theme. And don’t forget to visit our photo booth for a picture with your entire family before heading out.

Cost is $20 per General Admission ticket, or $60 for a General Admission Family 4-Pack. Ocean Institute Member price is $12 for adults and $8 for children (2 and under free). Register online or for additional information call (949) 496-2274.

The Ocean Institute is a non-profit organization which seeks to demystify the world of science, empower children to become tomorrow’s scientific leaders, and deepen society’s appreciation of how the ocean and science impact our lives. Established in 1977, the Ocean Institute is located in Dana Point Harbor alongside the tide pools of a Marine Protected Area, and we use the ocean as our classroom to inspire students of all ages to learn.

We’re open to the general public 7 days per week. Weekdays, 10 a.m. – 4 p.m., $5/person (members and children under 2 free). Weekends, 10 a.m. – 3 p.m., $10/adult, $7.50/senior and children ages 3-12 (members and children under 2 free). Unique maritime and ocean-themed items are available in the Chambers Gallery daily, 9 a.m. – 5 p.m.
