OCSD Dana Point Deputies Talk Drunk Driving At Ohana Fest
Deputies will be at Dana Point's Ohana Fest Sept. 24 and 25 to educate festival-goers about drunk driving through "Know Your Limit" program.
DANA POINT, CA — The annual music event Ohana Festival returns to Doheny State Beach Friday through Saturday, and the Orange County Sheriff's Department wants to make sure that all festival-goers can get home safe and sober. OCSD announced Wednesday that deputies will attend the event as a part of the department's "Know Your Limit" program, a campaign intended to educate the public on the dangers of drunk driving.
During the festival, deputies will ask festival-goers how many drinks they have had and if they believe that they are good to drive. From there, deputies will inform patrons not only of the life-changing effects of driving over the blood alcohol limit, but how to monitor their alcohol intake throughout the show.
According to the California Driver Handbook, it takes two drinks consumed within one hour by a woman between 120-160 pounds and three drinks by a man 180-220 pounds to be over the legal limit. The average cost of a first-time DUI offense is roughly $13,500.
