Oldest Manmade Harbor Discovered on Egypt's Red Sea Coast

Free presentation of King Khufu's ancient harbor, discovered by renowned archaeologist Dr. Greg Marouard

Wadi el-Jarf is believed to be the oldest manmade harbor in the world’s history, The harbor was found on Egypt’s Red Sea coast, about 74 miles south of the Suez Canal. Dr. Greg Marouard will share his discovery through a free presentation on Saturday, May 9 at the Bowers’ Museum, 200 N. Main Street, in the Norma Kershaw Auditorium. Thought to have been built by King Khufu, builder of the Great Pyramid at Giza, the 4,500 year old site is a treasure trove of ancient seafaring relics.
