Pedestrian Killed In Dana Point On Interstate 5 Southbound Sunday
The man was running across the freeway when he was hit by a car, California Highway Patrol reported.
DANA POINT, CA — A man was struck and killed on the Interstate 5 near Pacific Coast Highway Sunday night, California Highway Patrol reported.
The man who died was reportedly running from the right shoulder of the southbound freeway to the center divider when he was hit by a Ford Explorer at 8:05 p.m. Sunday, CHP reported. The crash stopped traffic on the Interstate 5 southbound for several hours as CHP worked to investigate the scene near Dana Point and San Juan Capistrano.
The identity of the man killed is currently unknown. He was described by authorities as a man in his late 20s or early 30s wearing no shirt and blue pants. No other parties were injured, according to CHP.

A SigAlert was issued at 8:51 p.m. while authorities cleaned up and the Orange County Coroner came to assess the victim. The SigAlert closed five lanes on the freeway for two hours.
