LAGUNA NIGUEL, CA — It is neither safe nor sane to fire off illegal fireworks in Orange County. This year, Orange County Sheriff's Department dispatchers have established emergency lines to field the calls.

The sheriff's department will only respond to firework calls within their own jurisdiction, they remind. According to the department, patrol areas include:

"Please leave 911 for emergencies, only," Carrie Braun of the Orange County Sheriff's Department asks. "Thank you for helping us ensure that those who need immediate help don't experience any delays."
