Retired OC Doctor Charged In New Zealand Wrong-Way Crash: Report

The former Dana Point doctor was charged with driving dangerously in the wrong direction when his car hit another motorist in January.

DANA POINT, CA — A retired Dana Point physician is facing charges after he allegedly drove on the wrong side of the road in New Zealand and crashed into another car, seriously injuring a 33-year-old woman, the Orange County Register reported.

The crash happened on Jan. 27 in Queenstown, when Dr. Raman Sidhar, 73, drove his rented 2021 Toyota Camry onto the wrong side of the road, according to the report. He crashed into Sara Duan, a hotel chef who was on her way to her job.

She suffered multiple spinal fractures as a result of the crash, the newspaper reported.

Duan told the Southern California News Group that Sidhar did not stop to offer her medical aid. She also claimed that he suddenly left New Zealand seven hours after the crash.
