University High Defeats Dana Hills Girls Tennis 10-8

Rivals in last year's CIF-SS Division 1 championship match, which the Lady Dolphins won 10-8, Dana Hills and University met again in the finals of the DHHS Coastal Championships, which the Dolphins won 5-3, but on October 03, University edged out Dana Hills 10-8 in a match that went well past sunset.

The first round was a thrilling round of exciting tennis with Dana Hills ahead 3-2 and waiting on the results of a marathon singles set that lasted 90 minutes between Karlee Budge(DH) and Shayna Becker(Uni), fittingly the set was decided in a tie breaker with Shayna edging out Karlee 7-2.  Coach Green stated "I'm very proud of Karlee, she gave everything she had and played at her best."

So after the first round the teams were even at 3-3.  After the second round they were tied at 6-6.  In the third round when the teams were tied 8-8, with Cassidy Spearman-Margo Pletcher(DH) having swept at #2 doubles and the #1 doubles and #1 singles both in very tight sets, everyone was holding their breath.  On this day, University fans got to exhale first when their players took the final two sets, 6-4 and 7-6 respectiveley, giving the Trojans the 10-8.
