San Clemente-Dana Point Animal Shelter Sets Adoption Record

Participating in the "Clear the Shelters" event this month, the shelter set its own record for adoptions in a day.

The San Clemente-Dana Point Animal Shelter participated in the nationwide adoption event, “Clear the Shelters,” on Saturday, August 15th.

The campaign was sponsored by NBC-owned television stations and Telemundo Stations Group. With a push to find homes for animals in need, along with reduced adoption fees, the event in San Clemente was a huge success.

The San Clemente-Dana Point Animal Shelter had record adoption numbers for that day, with 25 cats/kittens and 3 dogs placed in their forever homes.

This “Clear the Shelters” event was held for the first time last year in North Texas with over 35 shelters participating, adopting over 2,200 animals in one day. This month, the event was held for the second time nationally with over 400 shelters participating, adopting over 18,000+ animals.
