School Food: Should It Be the Kids' Decision?
Should high schoolers be entrusted with making their own nutritional decisions?

The U.S. Agriculture and Health and Human Services departments released the 2010 dietary guidelines for Americans recently. Since CUSD’s Food and Nutrition Services is federally funded, the food it serves in the schools has to meet these new federal nutritional requirements. Many kids resent the fact that this means less "tasty" food in school, such as sweets and soda, but the elimination of these unhealthy foods has been shown to support learning and combat obesity. We asked the teenagers at about what they thought of the new push to put healthier food into their schools.
