This eye-catching photograph was shot by a marine life photographer while traveling aboard a Dana Wharf Whale Watching vessel.

DANA POINT, CA — When sailing the coast of Orange County, one can always expect to find something worthwhile. From humpback whales to bottlenose dolphins to sea lions, Southern California waters are teeming with wildlife.
This eye-catching photograph was shot by Laura Lopez of Dana Wharf Whale Watching and submitted by Dana Wharf COO Donna Kalez.
The photograph was taken just this week, after whale watching tours saw a variety of gray whales and humpbacks in the water.

"We don't just have humpbacks stealing the show," Kalez told Patch. "We have had very spirited sea lions that want to be jumping whales!"
"He was having a ball, acting like a breaching whale riding the waves behind the boat," she said.
