See A Dead Bird In Laguna Niguel? Call Vector Control

LAGUNA NIGUEL, CA —Birds can die if they contract West Nile virus from mosquitoes, Orange County Vector Control has said. Though the West Nile virus threat in Orange County is low at the moment, officials remind residents to be vigilant.

Thus far, dead birds infected with the virus have been found in Cypress, Seal Beach, Huntington Beach, and Tustin, according to the OC Vector Control. Garden Grove has tested positive for West Nile infected mosquitoes.

"If you find a dead bird in Orange County and it appears to have died in the last 24 hours, don't touch it," OC Vector Control says on their website. "Carefully place the carcass in a plastic bag and place it in a cool and shady place."
