See Gray Whales Delight Onlookers In Dana Point
On the opening day of Gray Whale Watching season, this pair stopped to say hello! off the Orange County coastline. Look how close they are!
LAGUNA NIGUEL, CA —On the day after Christmas, Dana Wharf Whale watching enjoyed a friendly encounter with two gray whales off the coast of Dana Point California, a spokeswoman said. One hundred forty whale enthusiasts on board the Dana Pride vessel shrieked with delight at the sight of the gray whale sighting.
Captains took videos as the two California gray whales drew close to the 95-foot vessel "The Dana Pride."
Capt. Tommy White, a 40-year employee of Dana Wharf, was at a complete stop when the pair surfaced.

"The boat was dead in the water," Donna Kalez said. The best thing to do when gray whales Display "Baja style behavior" is to turn the boat off and sit there and let the whales do what the whales want to do, Kalez explained.
Gray Whale season has opened off the Southern California coast.
