Orange County sheriff's deputies have released new details in Tuesday's slaying of an elderly couple in South Orange County.

SAN JUAN CAPISTRANO, CA — A 41-year-old man "mutilated and decapitated" his parents and their dog at a mobile home park in San Juan Capistrano, Orange County Sheriff's deputies said Wednesday.

According to the Orange County Sheriff's Department, deputies responded to a "domestic incident" at about 7:30 p.m. in the 32000 block of Alipaz Street, near Del Obispo, in San Juan Capistrano.

Deputies arrived to find the bodies of an elderly couple inside the mobile home and a dog that was pronounced dead at the scene, according to sheriff's officials.

The victims have since been identified as Antoinette Gerdvil, 79, and Ronald Walter Gerdvil, 77.

While investigating the scene, deputies received a report that a "bloody" male suspect was in the area chasing a maintenance worker, authorities said.

Deputies tracked down the suspect and ultimately shot him. He was taken to a local hospital in serious but stable condition. He was later identified as 41-year-old Joseph Brandon Gerdvil.

According to authorities, he is expected to be booked on suspicion of two counts of murder. No word on any additional charges was immediately available.
