St. Francis School of Law Dean appointed to state bar committee

Carole J. Buckner, J.D., Newport Beach-based online law school dean, has been appointed to the bar's Mandatory Fee Arbitration Committee.

St. Francis School of Law has announced that Dean Carole J. Buckner, J.D., has been appointed to the State Bar of California’s Mandatory Fee Arbitration Committee.

The MFA Committee oversees California’s mandatory attorney-client fee arbitration program, which provides an informal, confidential, lower-cost forum for resolving fee disputes between lawyer and client. The Committee reviews and comments upon proposed legislation, recommends amendments to fee arbitration statutes and procedures to the board of trustees, and oversees the State Bar’s Mandatory Fee Arbitration Department.

“I am honored to be selected for membership on the California State Bar’s committee on Mandatory Fee Arbitration,” said Buckner. “On this committee I will have the opportunity to contribute to the development of guidance for the legal community on billing for legal fees in furtherance of successful business relationships between lawyers and their clients.”
