Successful “Do Tell” Event Celebrates and Supports Community
A very successful 5th annual "Do Tell" Storytelling event held at DPWC's Community House, raised $2000 for Family Assistance Ministries.

Barron Harley hosted her 5th annual Do Tell Storytelling event at Community House, home of Dana Point Women’s Club, on Sunday October 6th. Close to 100 people were entranced by heartwarming, funny, uplifting and completely engaging personal stories told by Rosie MCCabe, who calls herself “Grammie”, hilarious and poignant comedian Janet Stewart, Dorothy Haley (game show winner), life coach Dave Friedman, and hospice chaplain and wonderful singer, Fran Chalan. Full performances can be viewed here, but there was no substitute for hearing this unique entertainment in-person.

Do Tell is the brainchild of Barron Harley, a San Clemente resident and marriage and family therapist, who “always loved hearing a great story” and decided to create an annual event featuring dynamic and interesting people with an intriguing yarn to share. Do Tell donates 100% of net proceeds of the annual events to charity, and this one was the most successful so far. This year’s event went to Dana Point Women’s Club’s Project FAM, supporting Family Assistance Ministries’ Food Bank. After costs for set up, wine and nibbles, (DPWC donated the venue rental for this charitable event), Do Tell netted $2000 for Project FAM. DPWC Treasurer, Donna Childress, who sent off the check this week, said “DPWC is proud to sponsor this wonderful event. It brings a fun, entertaining evening to the local community, provides a vehicle for intriguing people to share wonderful stories, and directly benefits one of our worthy philanthropic projects at the same time. “
According to Do Tell founder, Barron Harley “This was our highest donation in the 5 years of Do Tell's existence. Some attendees report that it was the best Do Tell we've had. I attribute that to the generous support of DPWC and the recent lovely upgrades to the Community House. It truly is a home for our community. I love storytelling because it brings people together in a way that anyone can relate to, no matter one's political persuasion or religious affiliation. These are simply stories of one's life experience told from the heart. We can all find community in that. I'm looking forward to our next event in October '25! “
