Crown Valley Head-On Collision Sends Two People to Hospital

A two-vehicle, head-on collision in Laguna Niguel on Crown Valley overnight Monday left a complete closure for over four hours.

LAGUNA NIGUEL, CA — Orange County Sheriff's Department reported two injuries from a head-on collision at Crown Valley Parkway and Central Park Drive in Laguna Niguel on Monday. The collision occurred at just after 6:45 p.m., according to reports from the scene. Both drivers were transported to local area hospital, says OCSD Lt. Stiverson.

"A SIG ALERT was issued in the area in all directions for four hours," Stiverson said. "A Major Accident Reconstruction Team is also at the scene."

Orange County Fire Authority Captain PIO Larry Kurtz said the call came in at approximately 6:42 pm. The ambulance was sent Code 3 -- meaning lights and sirens.

OCFA firefighter paramedics responded to the scene to aid the injured. Two were taken to the hospital, the severity of their injuries, gender and ages were not available.

One South Orange County resident posted the following on Facebook in response to the accident:

"I've just driven past it, still ongoing. It was a big one. Two cars head-on, neither looked much like a car anymore. A couple of ambulances leaving the scene as I drove past. Hope they make it and are OK."

Another resident posted:

"They need to enforce speed laws!"

Pulse Point App reported the "Expanded Traffic Collision" earlier this evening at Crown Valley Parkway and Central Park Drive. These types of collisions require more emergency responders.
