DANA POINT, CA — A small brush fire in Dana Point was extinguished quickly Monday, thanks to rapid response from Orange County Fire Authority firefighters. Roughly 25 firefighters responded to the scene at around 1:15 p.m. off the 34100 block of Capistrano By The Sea.
The fire was under control in about 40 minutes, according to OCFA Capt. Steve Concialdi.
The fire had burned about one-eighth of an acre when firefighters arrived, burning in Eucalyptus trees, which are extremely combustible in nature, Concialdi said. OCFA’s helicopter made one water drop to help extinguish the fire, in an aggressive initial attack.

OCFA's Copter 2 assisted the Battalion 6 units, holding that fire to less than an acre. No structures were damaged, Concialdi said. The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
