Women's Sailing Association - Orange County Announces August Meeting Topic, New Location
Interested sailors are invited to attend Women's Sailing Association - Orange County meeting
The Women’s Sailing Association - Orange County (WSA-OC) is expanding its presence in Orange County by hosting it’s first meeting in Newport Harbor at the Bahia Corinthian Yacht Club on Tuesday, August 2nd. Meetings are typically held in Dana Point Harbor on the first Tuesday of each month however WSA-OC Commodore, Valerie Rhodes said, “Since relaunching the former WORSA as WSA-OC early last year, it has been our goal to serve our many members from Newport Beach and surrounding north Orange County communities. We’re looking forward to hosting our first WSA-OC meeting in Newport this month and better serving our members and prospective members by alternating meeting locations between our two beautiful Orange County harbors.”
The August meeting topic will be "Endless Summer, Sailing Travel Adventures." featuring Captain Holly Scott, of Mahalo Sailing Adventures, for a virtual vacation. Holly will share tips on a variety of cruising destinations and valuable information about the various ways to plan a sailing vacation. Holly Scott is a licensed U.S. Coast Guard captain and has lead charters to exotic destinations around the world. She is also owner/operator of Charlie’s Charts, which publishes cruising/navigational guides for sailors.
WSA-OC is an organization supporting its members in becoming avid sailing enthusiasts and conservators of the ocean. Topics at WSA-OC meetings vary from month to month and visitors are encouraged to attend. Membership in WSA-OC is open to both women and men of all skill levels. August 2nd meeting will begin at 6:30 with a “Happy 1/2 Hour” and program will begin at 7pm. Members of the public are invited to attend.
