Wrong-Way Driver Arrested On Suspicion Of DUI In South OC
The driver of a white Mercedes-Benz sedan was arrested this week for driving in the wrong direction on the Interstate 5 Freeway.

LAGUNA HILLS, CA — A driver was arrested for suspicion of DUI after driving on the wrong side of the Interstate 5 Freeway, the California Highway Patrol reported.
Officers were dispatched early Saturday morning in reference to a white Mercedes-Benz sedan traveling south in the northbound HOV lane of the freeway near Los Alisos Boulevard at around 50 miles per hour.
The Mercedes did not yield to the officer, and while trying to drive past, the officer turned his patrol vehicle to the left and rammed the left side of the Mercedes.

"The Mercedes slowed momentarily but continued driving south in the northbound HOV lane," according to a CHP statement. "Another CHP officer was in position with another traffic break and located the Mercedes still traveling wrong way at Oso Parkway."
"As the Mercedes approached the CHP unit, the Mercedes slowed and attempted to go past the officer," the statement continued. "The CHP officer rammed the left side of the Mercedes as it continued wrong way."

No injuries were reported and the identity of the person in custody was not known.
