110 Sex Offenders Arrested In Statewide Halloween Sweep

A total of 1,252 registered sex offenders were contacted around the state as part of the annual Halloween crackdown called "Operation Boo."

CALIFORNIA – Dozens of sex offenders across California were arrested for violating their parole during an annual Halloween sweep.

A total of 1,252 registered sex offenders were contacted around the state as part of Operation Boo, according to the California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation. Authorities arrested 110 parolees, with eight of the parolees facing new charges.

Authorities found 30 parolees with pornography, including two who were caught with child porn, according to officials. Of those arrested, 31 had narcotics, drug paraphernalia or violated other parole conditions, while 13 were found with weapons.

The California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation has conducted Operation Boo since 1994. The annual statewide crackdown aims to keep sex offenders from contacting children or engaging in other Halloween activities.
