LA JOLLA, CA — La Jolla residents planning to visit a public library or county government office should prepare for closures Wednesday, Nov. 11, as San Diego observes Veterans Day.
The San Diego Public Library system has confirmed that all its branches will close for the holiday, including libraries serving La Jolla-area residents.
The closure is part of the city's 2026 holiday schedule, which recognizes Veterans Day as an official municipal holiday.
San Diego County has also announced that county government offices, family resource centers, county-operated libraries, public health centers and animal shelters will close Wednesday.
Residents who need to borrow library materials, visit government offices or attend public health appointments are encouraged to plan around the holiday.
Although library buildings will be closed, the San Diego Public Library system says book drops will remain available during holidays unless otherwise noted.
County parks and campgrounds will remain open during regular operating hours, although certain recreation and community center offices will close.
Law enforcement, emergency animal control response and other essential county services will continue operating throughout Veterans Day.
Normal county government operations are expected to resume Thursday, Nov. 12.
