San Diego Ad Club to Preview Creative Show Advertising Award Entries Before Judging Occurs

Here's your opportunity to see the best from San Diego's advertising agencies.

The San Diego Advertising Club will gather this Friday, Feb. 1 to view more than 200 entries submitted for its 2013 ADDYs Creative Show, the Ad Club’s annual awards program. The event, called the “ADDYs Raid,” is an opportunity to celebrate the outstanding creative work performed during the past year by advertising and marketing agencies in San Diego, Ad Club officials said. The entries will be on display from 5 to 8 p.m. at the SDG&E Energy Innovation Center, 4760 Clairemont Mesa Blvd., San Diego.

The ADDYs Raid, open to the public, will feature food, drink and “people’s choice” voting for entries in every category. Also, prizes will be presented for best adventure-gear costume that relates to “ADDYventure, Legend of the San Diego Ad Club,” the theme for this year’s Creative Show. This year’s adventure-inspired theme was created by the San Diego Zoo’s marketing department, winners of last year’s 2012 Best of Show award. Admission to the Raid is $15 for students, $20 for Ad Club members and $30 for non-members. For more information, visit SanDiegoAdClub.com.

The entries, submitted by local advertising and marketing companies, are vying for awards in more than 20 different advertising and graphic design categories, including digital and social media categories. Entries will be judged on Saturday, Feb. 2 by a panel of nationally-recognized creative talent. The awards, called an ADDY, will be presented on Friday, March 1.

The name of the awards, an ADDY, is taken from the American Advertising Awards program hosted by the American Advertising Federation (AAF) a national advertising trade organization comprising a membership of more than 200 local advertising clubs, including the San Diego Ad Club. Winners from the local San Diego ADDYs Creative Show will be eligible to compete for AAF's regional ADDY awards in AAF’s District 15 competition. District 15 winners then will be forwarded to compete at AAF’s national competition. The national ADDYs program is known as the world’s largest and arguably the toughest advertising competition with more than 50,000 entries annually.

Founded in 1911, the San Diego Advertising Club is the largest and oldest local networking and professional group for advertising and marketing executives with more than 300 companies representing about 700 members.
