Celebrate 'Mama's Day' With Decadence

Non-profit Mama's Kitchen is raising money in a delicious way.

Mama’s Day is coming up—and we don’t mean Mother’s Day.

is back for its 21st year this Friday. The big fundraising event is held at the Hyatt Regency La Jolla and benefits Mama’s Kitchen, a non-profit organization that cooks and delivers hot, nutrition-specific meals free of charge to men, women and children affected by AIDS or cancer throughout the county.

More than 700 guests are expected to show up to the event, which will feature and Ian Ward, mixologist, from Snake Oil, at its VIP Reception. According to a press release, event chairperson and La Jolla resident Heather K. Bowden said that Zien and Ward’s presence will add a special element to the night.

“Our guests return year after year to mix and mingle with San Diego’s top chefs and we knew we needed to kick it up a notch to keep our guests excited to renew their support for Mama’s Kitchen,” Bowden said. “The presentation by Sam and Ian adds an extraordinary element of interaction our guests will appreciate before they embark on an amazing evening for a special charity.”

Attendees will also enjoy music, food and an opportunity drawing for outstanding prizes. An extensive silent auction will keep guests busy throughout the night, as partygoers will be allowed to keep tabs on their bids via their smartphones.

Ready to celebrate Mama’s Day and give back to those in need throughout San Diego? Mama’s Day 2012 is May 11. The VIP reception, which will feature the exclusive food and cocktail presentation, will be held from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. General admission and the main event starts at 6:30 p.m.

Tickets for the event, which is presented by Nordstrom and hosted by Sycuan Casino, cost $125 per person in advance or $150 at the door. A limited number of premium VIP tickets are available at $250 per person. Buy your tickets for this great event online here.
