CIF Baseball: LJCD Routs Christian to Advance

The Torreys of La Jolla Country Day celebrated Senior Recognition Day Wednesday by defeating visiting Christian 9-1 in the first round of the San Diego Section CIF Division IV baseball playoffs.
Senior Anthony Torres was 2-for-4, including a two-run home run that gave LJCD a 4-1 advantage in the third inning. Senior Ruben Pena also homered for the Torreys (22-7), while senior Austin Rooke was 3-for-4 with two runs scored.
La Jolla Country Day will host Mater Dei in round two of the winners’ bracket Friday at 3:30 p.m.
