Cops ID Motorcyclist Fatally Struck by SUV on Interstate 15

SAN DIEGO - Authorities Friday publicly identified a 62-year-old man who was killed when his motorcycle was struck by an SUV on Interstate 15 near Miramar over the weekend.

William Herbert Stalzer was riding his motorcycle in the northbound lanes approaching Miramar Way when an SUV that had just merged onto the freeway from state Route 52 crossed into his lane and hit the back of his bike around 10:45 p.m. Saturday, according to the county Medical Examiner's Office.

Stalzer was ejected onto the hood of the SUV, then fell off and ended up underneath it. The driver of the SUV pulled over after the crash, authorities said.

Stalzer died at the scene.
