Congressman Darrell Issa: Leading the Fight Against Obamacare

Congressman Darrell Issa spoke to reporters one hour ago defending the House of Representatives continuing resolution bill, a new resolution which contains a one-year delay of the individual mandate in Obamacare and a repeal of the medical device tax.

When one reporter claimed that the budget negotiations would fail, Issa fired back:

"How dare your predict failure!"

Issa proceeded to outline not only the steps which the House of Representatives were willing to take in case of a government shut-down, but also the importance of challenging key portions of Obamacare.

The Medicare exchanges are not ready in many states. Colorado and Washington D.C. have already admitted that they are not ready to enroll residents. California's exchange "Covered CA" has revealed to some potential enrollees a sharp rise in costs.

As Oversight Committee Chairman, Issa has reported that the counselors responsible for enrolling will not be covered by HIPA. The Committee has already indicted the IRS for targeting conservative groups. What reason does any American have to believe that the IRS will not compromise the safety and integrity of individual Americans following the implementation of this law in 2013?

Congressman Issa stood up to reporters on Capitol Hill, refusing to give into a defeatist narrative which would hold the Republicans responsible for any government shut-down.

Like US Senator Ted  Cruz (R-Texas), Issa continues to identify the real obstacles to principled compromise in Washington: Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid and President Barack Obama.

Those two Democrats forced through an unpopular health insurance mandate on the American people in 2010. The law has been a train wreck from the moment it was passed. Tens of thousands of pages of regulations have enlarged government, frightened businesses, and frustrated the medical profession. Doctors are retiring in greater numbers, hospitals are bracing for growing numbers of patients without adequate resources to help them. Younger Americans will pay a heavy tax if they do not have insurance, and the protection for those twenty-five and under has provided not guarantee that they will have insurance.

It's good to know that there are legislators fighting against the massive, dysfunctional roll-out of a law from which special interests, including unions, have received exemptions.
