#Donationdeeds: Matching EVERY Cystic Fibrosis Fighting Donation With An Act of Kindness!
I have four core values: style, compassion, kindness, and champagne. If you fail to agree that champagne could possibly play such a big part in someone’s life, be my friend, I will show you how you are so very wrong. Jokes aside, my core values took me time to declare. I knew what I respected, what motivated me, but actually deciphering what my soul’s purpose is, was quite challenging. I finally narrowed them down to those very four. The most fervent and insatiable desire within me, is my need to find, be, and live compassion.
My business, Le Red Balloon makes fashion tangible. My goal is remind men and women why they matter, that they are beautiful; not beautiful only after they lose weight, cut their hair or wear new clothes. My job is remind them that they reflect the kind of beauty that adds color to this world. I remind them that they are much bigger, resilient, capable than they believe themselves to be betwixt styling them in funky cool digs. The second branch of my business is public speaking. I speak to young women about body image, anti-bullying, dressing age appropriately, kindness, and self acceptance.
Compassion to me, is one’s best accessory, it’s what allows us to understand one another and most importantly to step outside of our own needs, wants, desires and to think of others’.

I was recently nominated for San Diego’s Finest, a nationally branded event (San Diego’s inaugural event) that raises money and awareness for Cystic Fibrosis. The honorees/fellow contestants have to raise $3,000 to be a finalist. Thus far, there are ten other people competing with me. Contrary to what my father will tell you, I am very uncomfortable asking people for money. I have been approached to participate in other contests-for-good but always backed down because I felt like I was imposing on friend’s and family’s wallets. I sat myself down and figured out the perfect compromise! Part of my issue with raising money is that everything seemed so one sided. Here my friends, family members, and strangers were doing good by donating money and the recipient says only, “thank you”. F$%* that!
I wanted in on the kindness action too! I decided to match every donation with an act of love! For every donation made, whether it’s $1 or $100, I will perform an act of love and kindness in the world! I look forward to the emails notifying me of a donation made as I am always ready to hit the streets and spread some joy! I was lucky enough to take my Intel tablet with me, to capture everything on video and film. Thus far donations have sponsored a care package for a homeless gentleman, volunteering at my old elementary school, surprising people in the grocery line by paying for their meal, goods, etc., Flowers to a very deserving AMPM employee, chocolates for my waiter, lunch to Gerardo, a grounds keeper at a local mini mall, coffee, a danish and $60 for an amazing woman on my morning route (who is always kind and joyous) and that’s just the beginning! I can’t wait to do more, I hope this will be a movement: people loving, hugging, blessing, gracing, and doing so much good even Oprah will feel guilty! Bwahahaha, attack of KINDNESS!
