Congregation Beth Israel Men's Club Dinner Forum Presents: Dr. Barbara Parker & Dr. Haydee Ojeda-Fournier-Breast Cancer Update
Dr. Barbara Parker is a Phi Beta Kappa graduate of the University of North Carolina. She received her MD from Stanford University Medical School where she pursued additional research training through the National Institutes of Health Medical Scientist Training Program. She is board certified in Internal Medicine and Medical Oncology and received her postgraduate training in both specialties at UC San Diego. She is a Professor of Clinical Medicine.
The San Diego Medical Society voted Dr. Parker as one of San Diego's "Top Doctors" in Medical Oncology from 2006 to 2011. In October 2007, she received the Leonard Tow Humanism in Medicine Award from the Arnold P. Gold Foundation for exemplary compassionate clinical care. In March 2009, she was awarded the "Attending Physician of the Year" by UCSD Medical Center. She is a member of the UCSD School of Medicine Academy of Clinical Scholars.

Her faculty practice focuses on breast cancer. Her research interests include novel therapies for breast cancer, the impact of diet and lifestyle modification on breast cancer prognosis. She has served as the Medical Director of the WHEL Diet Study; the CALGB/Alliance/ACTION clinical trials UCSD Principal Investigator, site PI and Co-Chair of the Diagnosis and Treatment Clinical Care and Research Group of the California Athena Breast Health Network.
In December 2007, Dr. Parker was appointed the Medical Director of Oncology Services at Moores UCSD Cancer Center and UCSD Medical Center. In that capacity, she provides leadership in execution of the clinical strategic plan and in operational oversight and quality management of multidisciplinary cancer care. In June 2009, Dr. Parker was appointed Associate Director for Clinical Affairs at the Moores UCSD Cancer Center and provides key leadership in linking the cancer clinics with clinical research activities and training.

Dr. Ojeda-Fournier, MD who is the Assistant Clinical Professor of Radiology Chief, Breast Imaging will be Joining Dr Parker to participate at this Forum. Dr. Ojeda-Fournier is a breast imager trained in detecting early breast cancer utilizing multiple modalities, including mammography, ultrasound and breast magnetic resonance imaging (MRI). She also performs image-guided breast biopsy to diagnose breast cancer; including MR guided vacuum assisted core biopsy.
Dinner Forums are open to the entire San Diego community, both men and women.
