Firefighters Help Pick Up Park Trash Left By Weekend Revelers

Crews opted out of morning workout at Mission Bay Park, to instead aid a lone park worker cleaning up massive mess left on Easter Sunday.

MISSION BAY, CA – The crew from the San Diego Fire-Rescue Department's Midway station typically works out together at Mission Bay Park. But on Monday morning, the planned workout went to the wayside when the firefighters spotted a lone city Parks & Recreation worker cleaning up a tremendous amount of rubbish left behind by park-goers on Easter Sunday.

"Evidently, the people who celebrated on Sunday left a significant mess behind," the department said. "Together, they completed the task in about an hour."

Great teamwork kudos to SDFD Station 20 B div. crews: Captains J. Brackpool and E. Nelson; engineers R. Ferrara and J. Harpole; firefighter/paramedics D. Ross and S. Dofflemyre; and firefighters K. McKean and P. Cuffaro.
