Jailed Pair Arrested In Connection With Pacific Beach Murder
Police did not disclose a connection between the duo and two other suspects or the shooting victim.
PACIFIC BEACH, CA – Two men jailed on unrelated charges have been re-arrested in connection with the shooting death of a 44-year-old Pacific Beach resident in his home, police reported Thursday.
Carlos Yslas, 24, and Pedro Ramirez, 27, were both booked into the George Bailey Detention Facility on Jan. 22, according to jail records. Yslas was arrested for a parole violation and Ramirez was arrested on suspicion of being a felon in possession of a firearm.
Police have not disclosed a possible connection between the two suspects and two other men, 50-year-old Paul Weinberger and 37-year-old Freddy Sosa, who pleaded not guilty to charges of murder and assault with a firearm at their Jan. 4 arraignment in connection with the death of 44-year-old Marcanthony Mendivil.

Officers responding at 1:47 a.m. on Dec. 29 to a home in the 2300 block of Wilbur Avenue regarding a possible shooting found Mendivil suffering from an apparent gunshot wound, San Diego Police Lt. Matt Dobbs said.
Paramedics took Mendivil to a hospital, where he was pronounced dead at 2:30 a.m., Dobbs said.

Weinberger and Sosa were arrested on Dec. 29 after investigators follows leads gathered by the initial investigating officers, the lieutenant said.
Police have not disclosed a suspected motive for the shooting, but did say that Weinberger lived in the residence where Mendivil was shot.
Yslas and Ramirez are being held without bail and are scheduled to be arraigned Friday afternoon.
